Set Up a Brand
A target is one brand you monitor. Everything else in the app hangs off it: prompts, runs, competitors, audits, reports. Getting the four fields right takes two minutes and prevents most of the confusing results people hit later.
Dashboard → Create Target, or the target switcher in the top bar → Create Target.
The fields
| Field | Required | Changes what |
|---|---|---|
| Target name | Yes | The string the grader looks for in every answer |
| Website URL | Yes | Same-name disambiguation, the Site Audit target, the owned-domain check for citations |
| Regions | Defaults to US | Which markets are probed, and how many probes a run costs |
| Brand information | No | Context passed to the analysis and recommendation models |
Target name
Use the brand as customers say it, not the legal entity. Aigeo, not Aigeo Technologies Inc. —
an assistant writing a recommendation will use the former.
If your brand has a common short form people actually use, prefer it. The grader recognises aliases and pronouns in context, but the primary name is what it anchors on.
Website URL
The URL does more work than it looks:
- Disambiguation. It is passed to the grader alongside the name so it can tell your company from a same-named one in a different industry. Without it, “Eureka” could be your brand or a vacuum cleaner.
- Site Audit. It’s the page fetched for structural checks and for Lighthouse — the source of the SEO Score in your Final Score.
- Owned-source detection. Citations on this hostname (and its subdomains) are classified as Owned Assets in the source breakdown.
Use the canonical homepage, with the protocol: https://yourbrand.com.
Regions
Regions are the markets you want to be measured in, and the first one is the primary market. That ordering matters:
- Region-aware engines run once per selected market.
- Region-agnostic engines (Claude, Doubao) run once, in the primary market — so the primary is the market their single answer is attributed to.
Start with one market. Adding markets multiplies run cost by roughly the number of region-aware engines you’ve selected, and you’ll want the prompt library settled first. Markets can be added and reordered later in Settings.
How many markets a single brand may be probed across is a plan limit; see Plans & usage.
Brand information
Optional free text, and the most under-used field in the product. It is passed to the analysis model and to the recommendation generator, so it steers how your brand is understood when the answer is ambiguous.
Worth including:
- What you actually sell, in the words a customer would use
- Who it’s for — segment, size, market
- What genuinely differentiates you
- Anything commonly confused with you (a same-named company, a discontinued product line)
Two or three sentences is enough. This is context, not a pitch.
What happens right after creation
- The target appears in the target switcher and becomes the active brand.
- A GEO readiness check runs automatically on the new site, so the Site Audit tab has something in it the first time you open it.
- The Prompts tab is empty and waiting — that’s the next step.
Settings you’ll come back to
Settings tab, per target:
| Section | What you can change |
|---|---|
| General | Target name and website URL |
| Regions | Add, remove and reorder markets — the first is primary |
| Brand context | The brand information text |
| Danger zone | Delete the target and all its probes, prompts and reports |
Deleting a target is permanent and takes its entire history with it. Score history can’t be reconstructed from exports, so export any report you still need first.
